Do you think the Republicans or Democrats will take more seats with the upcoming elections?

And what will change if the majority changes?

Opinions? Thoughts? Predictions?

My guess is Democrats. Just from how crazy things have been for the last 6 years and other side things (like crazy note that a couple hundred Latin-Americans got telling them if they vote they will be deported), I'm predicting quite a turnout from those who are Democrats or just very Anti-Bush.

Its going to be quite interesting to see who comes out to vote. The ones that just hate Bush and will cut off their nose to spite their face. Or the ones that can really see the state of our world right now and vote to keep a strong America. I pray for the later and fear the 1st.

My faith is more that the American people are not going to be influenced by the left leaning media and all the lies and will use their heads to vote in the Republican majority in both houses. If I am wrong, then stand by for years of do nothing politics, the strengthening of the fanatic Islamo facisists and American hating allies, and some real big 911 repeats.

God bless,
JADE

I myself think that the recent trends will lend themselves to more Democrats in both houses.

Do you mean more as in a majority or just more than they have now but still a minority? And what are you thoughts if a Democrat majority with Palosi as speaker would bring us? Would you feel safer and that they will do better for our country?(I don't think in the terms of better for me, I think in whats better for the country and our future).

God bless,

Will people, as you say, cut off their nose to spite their face? Probably. The general response to tyrannical leadership- that is, poor tyrannical leadership, where the megalomania and oppression is colored with poor decisions and a flawed public presence- is usually extreme. Whether it will improve the current state of affairs, I don't know. That depends on people, and what their values are. Oppression is just the lowest-common-denominator response to fear of other people.

I understand your concern with "oppression" and "tyrannical" leadership. But we are far far from that and I doubt that we will ever see it happen in our lifetime from either party. But if one is worried about laws that regulate what the common folks can say and do, one best look at what the ACLU driven Democrats have done. The laws the Republicans have been trying to pass are laws to protect us from outside forces that wish us harm. The laws the Democrats pass are ones against families, parents, citizens, white people, Christians, etc. within our own borders. They do nothing but divide Americans and make subgroups of superior power and rights(nothing equal about it). So if one wishes to gamble with having the "progressive" "liberal" feel good people controling your personal lives and rights in order to give outsiders more rights, then go for it. But just be sure you know the outcome and are not just gambling out of ignorance of what each side really will do when in power.

Parenting is tough and mostly thankless, but to keep order in the house and ensure the best for the family and their neighbors, tough decisions must be made. Parents that let their kids run amok hurt themselves and others. Running a country is no different.

God bless,

Main Entry: fas·cism
Pronunciation: 'fa-"shi-z&m also 'fa-"si-
Function: noun
Etymology: Italian fascismo, from fascio bundle, fasces, group, from Latin fascis bundle & fasces fasces
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early instances of army fascism and brutality -- J. W. Aldridge>

I'm not in favor of Democrats or Republicans. I'm in favor of having elbow room and being left alone.

I don't quite understand what you mean by left alone though. And even living in the city we have plenty of elbow room.

Jade: Thanks for not jumping down my throat here. 'specially since I was basically suggesting that this country is angling toward fascism (which it is).

As to left alone. Let me clarify: I want to love whoever I want, marry whoever I want, do what I wish with my body, put whatever I want inside of me, and believe whatever I want without fear that one of the running dogs of a corrupt and autocratic government- BE that government Democrat, Republican, or otherwise- will come to my door to take me away. Current trends make this hope seem ever more distant, but that's all I want.

Do what thou wilt, should it harm none but thyself.

Crowley was pretty close.

That sounds nice on the outside, but it just becomes chaos or anarchy in the end. For a simple example take the seatbelt law. I agree that if I don't wish to wear it, why on earth would there be a law forcing me to? Simple answer is unscrupulous lawyers and unscrupulous people. If there wasn't a law saying we had to wear them, this country would be broke paying all the folks injured not wearing them. That can apply to most everything else. Also, if the guy that loves to take drugs would just stay in his house then who cares and why should we care if he fries his brain with drugs, booze, etc. Again its because he wants to go driving afterwards, or since he is worthless and pennyless he has to go rob from others that have things to support his habit.

So its nice if we can do what we want, but when it involves others too, then we have to do something to regulate the wants of some for the rights of many. Sounds like you speak from a more Libertarian position. They have many good ideas and platforms too, but until the laws don't bankrupt us due to the minority acts of stupidity, we need representatives that will do the most for the majority.

My fear is just that the Dems want it all and that is just a weird dream. They want all the freedoms yet massive Government interaction and intervention. Thats an impossibility. So they lie when they say they will give that to you. If you want left alone, then you don't want Dems in power. They will take whatever you make and give it away through entitlement programs and large Government agencies. Trust me, I used to work for the Govt. and when the Dems were in power we were the most wasteful people around. When the Reps are in power our budgets got tight and we downsized to the MEO(most efficient organization). My group doesn't even exist anymore and that is fine, they are able to do without us. I was actually downsized out into early retirement. Reps know how to manage, Dems only know how to spend, Indys just aren't together yet and need a reality check.

God bless,
JADE
