I think Vaina would be best at describing the meaning, see as how it's his costume.
And my user name of MiddleGround. It means the Middle Ground, the neutral stance, the meeting place of compromise. It's the purpose of this forum, to be a middle ground between all people.

Nisan: Vainamoinen is the name of a sort of Merlin-figure in Finnish mythology, whom I've always admired. Finnish mythology is a lot of fun. It's all contained in one book, called the Kalevala, and it's pretty unique.
The costume comes from a movie (and book) called V for Vendetta. It proposes a future in which the government is in absolute control of the populace, and has committed terrible crimes in the name of 'security'. The title character, 'V', is an iconic character and freedom fighter whose face is never seen. He always wears a smiling Guy Fawkes mask. At the time it was written, V for Vendetta was a commentary on the state of Margaret Thatcher's grip on England. When the more recent movie was made, it was more of a comment on current events in the United States.
At the climax of the movie, the citizens of London- all of whom have recieved identical Guy Fawkes masks- march on Parliament together, all of them wearing their masks. The overall statement is that if we hope to enact change, we must be the ones who act.
"Governments should be afraid of their people, people shouldn't be afraid of their governments." -V

I loved the movie for the action and such, but could see many disturbing issues. One is that a person could say Bin Laden is like V also. Any"ONE" that is disappointed with whats going on can feel that it is right to force their agenda onto the majority that felt things were going good. When you look at the end with all the masks, one could say they finally found their party. But look at all that died over it when they could have done it peacefully. He was no more a hero than the guy in "fightclub" was. They didn't like the way things were in their lives and hurt many others trying to get their way. No new story line there.
Vainamoninen also left Finland when Christianity came into there lands. He was kinda symbolic of how paganism was no longer needed, and that Christianity was the new belief. Thats what I gathered from my readings of it when I looked it up awhile back.
