Is it better than it used to be? Worse?
Why?

Just different, I think. Remember what OUR parents said about our music?

| I think that its gotten worse over the years. Not all of it is bad, but songs from decades back had a little more meaning behind them. |

The technology and ability to produce better quality music has gotten better. Even many of the talented singers are much better than many from the past. Sadly though the messages and shock garbage has gotten so bad that it has taken away from all the positives.
I question...Therefore I think...I think...Therefore I am...I think? |

With an ever-increasing number of people able to make the music they want to make (without having to sign with a major record company or own a studio), I think we're getting more and more good stuff made available. It's mainly a matter of sifting through the less inspiring stuff, both on the airwaves and the...um...series of tubes...and finding those gems.

I think Vainamoinen is right, I think the good stuff is out there, we just need to look harder. The stuff they're playing on the MTV networks isn't good, it's just well produced and has a nice video to go along with it. I'm not about to get on the roof and shout out that MySpace has revolutionized the music industry because purevolume has being doing the same thing for years. But I will give people credit for not completely accepting what KISS-FM and MTV throw at them.
The good stuff is there, but there's also a lot of crap.

Both or neither, actually. It depends on which side of the fence you stand, as to whether it's better or worse.
The reason is because there is more OF it. More good stuff, more garbage. Easier to get, collect, create and share. Think about it, you don't even NEED a band to make an album, these days. In the *old days* there were studio musicians to make the music if you didn't have a band. Today's *studio musicians* are technology, they're computers, in many cases. Is that better? Worse? Depends on whether you are a laid off studio musician, I would guess.
It also depends on what sort of music you like. Every new generation of music has a different sound than the previous, and the previous generation always calls the new stuff garbage (I know, it's a generalization, sue me).
I just think it's different. If people didn't BUY it, it wouldn't be around for long, so somebody (many, many somebodies, in fact) thinks it's better. |

No, I am sorry but i disagree with every message i read on this forum about music, not because i believe that you are all ignorant...everyone has there own opinion towards music thats what is so great about music...everyone is given there own opinions...so anyone who ever tells you you are ignorant or retared for your own take on a music genre or scene or style of music...disregard them and tell them off. Music is what you make of it..what you feel when yu hear it...who can possibly tell you how to feel on any given subject. So enjoy music..however i do have my own opinion and i do not believe that music has entirely SOLD out of ruined itself..however i do believe music has become more PRODUCED in a sense that instead of being lame and making catchy music that is semi talented.........now people are making catchy music..that is semi talented...that THEY didnt write....the beatles wrote all there own songs....but...as catchy as they were they were none talented in a technical sense...but rarely does anyone put the right label on TALENT....people think musical talent takes you as far as being able to play you instrument and read music very well...im sorry...talent in a musical sense.is not just being able to read notes and understand beethovens symphonies......talent is creating a section of music that people dance and enjoy...talent is being able to connect on a personal level with people...be it corny..or not...if you find yourself moving to someones beat or sound....that is talent. So dont tell me they arent talented like the old days....talent comes in many different forms....lyrical talent and musical talent. A sound is a sound..your ears recognize the talent...if your foot doesnt tap hen you hear a song on the radio...yes they suck musically...yes they arent worth being on there.....but if your foot moves...then SHUT UP...that song is good....haha but of course...my original point being.....not everyones foot taps to the same song..not everyones hip moves to the same beat.....music is sparatic and has many diferent faces.....hence the reason for genres...so next time you decide to bash a type or sound of music...think twice....and really listen to what is in the music and make an educated BASH of the song. Some people look for a good beat..some people look for a good sound..some people listen to good lyrics.....thats the beauty of music...every song is different...and every person listens to different songs.......................................................................it's why i have devoted my life's goal to learning about everything there i to know about music

I think some of us were saying similar things. For instance, my theory was that there both was and is good music, but right now you have to look harder for the things that are well-done. Are you saying that all music is well-done? Some of your statements are unclear. You say you disagree with every post here about music, but some of your statements are saying the same things some of us were, I think. I'm not clear on a lot of this- do you mean you think the Beatles WERE or WERE NOT talented?- but what generally comes off is that you are passionate about music.
Good deal. So am I. So are we. So lend me your wings, bird. I'll spread them and fly on the thermals.

I believe it depends on a persons interest. Some people like the stuff they played years ago and some like it now. I like all kinds of music, but unfortunatly I think they are running out of ideas becausse they keep re-releasing the same songs just different singers.
